Counselling & Psychotherapy in Sheffield
You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure what’s going on. You don’t need to have the right words, or even know where to start.
Many people come to counselling carrying experiences that feel heavy, confusing, or difficult to make sense of alone. This might be anxiety that keeps them on edge, a persistent sense of low mood or depression, the ongoing impact of trauma or past experiences, or questions about identity, self-worth and belonging. Often, these experiences are not simply problems to be fixed, but expressions of something that have not yet been fully understood, heard, or held within relationship.
I am a humanistic counsellor, psychotherapist, supervisor and trainer based in Sheffield, offering counselling and psychotherapy in Sheffield and online across the UK.
I work with young people (16+) and adults, and draw on 20 years’ experience within mental health services, including NHS Adult Mental Health Crisis Services, alongside work with children and young people in the charity sector.
I am interested in how people come to understand their lives, their relationships, and their place in the world, particularly at times of uncertainty, loss or change. I am also attentive to how experiences of marginalisation, difference and power shape how we come to see ourselves and others.
Counselling offers a space to explore your experience at your own pace, within a relationship grounded in careful attention, respect and empathy. You don’t need to present things in a particular way, or have clarity from the outset.
I see therapy as a space to get to know yourself more deeply, and with care. When emotions are met with curiosity rather than fear, they often feel less frightening and less overwhelming.
The value of psychotherapy lies in coming to know yourself more fully. As different aspects of your experience begin to make more sense, life can feel less unpredictable. Feelings that once felt overwhelming may become more tolerable, and easier to live alongside.
The work is not about removing difficulty, but about developing a different relationship with it. Life can feel more richer for it.
